Bought the discs based on great reviews even before I had a 4K player. Didn't share that whole deal with the "lady of the house" Oppo and a 78inch series curved Samsung.

If someone makes it better that what I saw on those discs I hope I'm alive to see it. The beauty of the product is mind boggling and how in the hell did that get those pictures?

I buy a 4k disc monthly and watch once with a group of old folks and then sell the movie I've always been captivated by this show- the footage they are able to capture is simply stunning!

It looks like you are actually in the desert, jungle, or grasslands! You can see every fleck of color in the lion's eye and every strand of hair on the baby elephant's head!

Although it is a bit pricey, the 4K UHD version is well worth the money for how breath-taking these episodes are!

There are 6 episodes in this series- I devoured these pretty quickly and my only complaint is I wish there was more! There is a 3rd disc with bonus content - I'll have to see what is on that!

Planet Earth II has plenty of new elements to admire. The show is eager to share. Narrator David Attenborough, sitting in a hot air balloon above snow drenched mountaintops, checks off each general advancement during the pilot: The filmmakers were able to get incredibly close to each animal thanks to innovative remote cameras.

Sadly David Attenborough is too advanced in years to travel the World in person but represents the highest standard in nature broadcasting and his narration is as clear and compelling as ever in his long career.

It is beautiful and you will not regret it. That's some amazing footage. I feel like I need to wear glasses to watch these discs. Of course the footage in general is great, but the amount of detail in these images is amazing.

You can see individual gnats buzzing around, and reflections in the eyes of the animals that you can almost identify as objects, The detail is just incredible.

I was blown away. The "making of" extras are pretty cool, too. If I had to make any criticism, I think the music is a bit loud.

But overall very happy with this purchase. I have yet to look at my discs because at the time of writing this, I only just received them.

I am going to asume the discs work. My problem is the shipping package. The case is thin and flimsy yet amazon ships it in a sticky bubble onvelope.

So, the case is broken completely on both hinges and has another break across the side. I hate that they use this shipping method for fragile items and books alike.

It is the best nature documentary ever made. But to my delight, they did. But don't compare it to Planet Earth, but do not miss it either.

It stands on its own merits. A few days ago we had a couple of retirees from the states visiting us, and when you get to a certain age we all think we've pretty much seen everything, including nature shows.

So reluctantly they agreed to watch an episode, just to be polite. To say they were stunned would be to understate their reaction.

I'm saddened to say, though, that my anxiety does peak near the end of each segment, since David Attenborough has to mention in each episode how humans are destroying the planet.

I understand why he has to say it, that's super important to stay aware of!! But when you already obsess over climate change and recycle others' recycling for them, or do what you can to help the environment - either by donation or volunteering - the mentioning of how we are ruining the planet for ourselves and the beautiful creatures on our planet can be upsetting.

As long as you're prepared for it, and know it's coming near the end of every episode, you can allow yourself to enjoy the documentary and know that the message is for those that may not be aware or may need a better understanding of how our minute decisions impact our world.

This is the best disc to test out your new 4k tv. Some scenes are definitely sharper than others as they used many different cameras to film the scenes, however the high resolution scenes are spectacular.

It is quite amazing how close they get to the wildlife in order to shoot some of these scenes. The bonus disc is quite informative and showcases the team's efforts in creating this masterpiece.

One star deducted because of the inconsistent quality between some of the scenes. Also planet earth 2 contains less content than the first planet earth movie.
